Auto glass repair in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach
Two state freeways dead-end inside Costa Mesa, and the country's highest-grossing shopping centre sits on its northern edge. For a small city that is a remarkable amount of traffic, and a remarkable amount of broken glass.
- Mobile at no extra charge — your driveway, your office lot, your job site
- ADAS camera recalibration on the same visit, not a second appointment
- We bill your carrier direct — GEICO, State Farm, USAA, AAA, Farmers, Progressive
- Workmanship warranted for as long as you own the vehicle
You're all set, there.
We've got your request. A Speedy tech will call you shortly to confirm the glass, your coverage and a time that works.
The freeway that stops mid-city
Costa Mesa is the only city in Orange County where two state freeways terminate inside the city limits — SR-55's southern end and SR-73's northern end are both here — with I-405 crossing the north as well.
The SR-55 terminus is the interesting one for glass. Its freeway lanes physically stop at 19th Street, handing eight lanes of freeway-speed traffic straight onto surface Newport Boulevard. That is a hard-braking, high-debris transition zone inside a residential city, and there is nothing else like it in our service area. Chips picked up around it, and around the merge-heavy 405/55/73 convergence, tend to land in odd places — the passenger third, or high near the top edge — rather than the classic dead-centre strike, because merging traffic throws stone sideways rather than straight back.
Where the chip lands changes what we can do. Dead centre in your sightline usually means replacement even when a repair is technically possible, because repairs leave slight distortion. Off to the passenger side, the same damage is a straightforward resin repair. Send a photo and we will tell you which you have.
Parking structures are the local glass hazard
The retail density here is genuinely exceptional. South Coast Plaza is the highest-grossing shopping centre in the United States, drawing something like 24 million visitors a year across 270-plus retailers, and the OC Fair & Event Center brought over 1.16 million people through in 2025 alone. Add Triangle Square, the SoBeCa district and the South Coast Metro office towers.
All of that means multi-storey parking structures, and multi-storey parking structures mean vehicle break-ins — upper decks and quiet corners especially. It is almost always side glass rather than a windshield. If it has happened to you, we can usually get there the same day, we vacuum the glass out of the door cavity and seat seams rather than just the visible bits, and you should compare our cash price with your deductible before calling your insurer. On one door window the cash price frequently wins, and then there is no claim on your record at all.
The valet and structure density has a second effect worth naming: a steady trickle of low-speed edge chips and door-adjacent glass damage that never involved a freeway at all.
Two very different vehicle populations, one service area
Eastside Costa Mesa and the older tracts near the fairgrounds have plenty of high-mileage cars where a cash price and a fast turnaround is the entire brief. A few minutes away, Newport Beach and Newport Coast run newer, camera-equipped, frequently leased vehicles where OEM glass and a documented ADAS calibration matter more than saving forty dollars. Costa Mesa also imports about 22% more people by day than it houses, so a lot of the cars here belong to people who work rather than live in the city. We serve all of that properly instead of pretending everyone wants the same thing — tell us which situation you are in and the conversation goes differently.
Newport Beach coverage
Newport Beach, Newport Coast, Corona del Mar and Balboa are all inside our normal Costa Mesa run. Two local notes. The peninsula and Balboa Island have genuinely tight streets and limited parking, so a replacement there needs a plan — often a nearby lot rather than the kerb outside your house. And harbour-adjacent vehicles pick up the same salt-air seal and corrosion issues as anywhere on the water, which matters when new glass is being bonded in.
Where we work
Driveways across Eastside and Westside Costa Mesa, Mesa Verde and College Park, office lots around South Coast Metro, the fairgrounds side, and through Newport. Mobile throughout — there is no shop for you to visit.
Every piece of glass on the vehicle
One mobile team, one visit. If the camera behind your windshield needs recalibrating afterwards, we do that too rather than sending you somewhere else.
Windshield replacement
Crack past repairing? We fit new glass to the adhesive maker's spec and tell you the real safe drive-away time.
See windshield replacement →Chip & crack repair
Caught it early? A resin repair takes about half an hour and most carriers waive the deductible on repair.
See chip & crack repair →ADAS recalibration
Move the glass and you move the camera that aims lane-keeping and automatic braking. We recalibrate and hand you the scan report.
See ADAS calibration →Back glass & rear windows
Rear glass shatters into pebbles rather than cracking. We vacuum it out of the seats and cabin, and match the defroster grid.
See back glass replacement →Door & side windows
Broken into overnight? Usually cheaper than a comprehensive deductible, so most people just pay cash and never file.

Tell us what broke
Send the form or call. Your VIN or plate gets us the exact glass for your vehicle, including whether it carries a camera, rain sensor or heating element.
We check your coverage first
Before anyone is dispatched we confirm what your policy covers and what your deductible actually is, so the price you hear is the price you pay. No claim is filed until you say go.
We come to you
Your driveway, your office lot, your job site — at no extra charge. We fit the glass, recalibrate the camera if there is one, and tell you when it's safe to drive.
What California drivers actually pay
Straight answers, because there is a lot of misleading advertising in this industry.
California has no free-glass law
You may have seen ads implying windshields are free by law in California. They aren't. Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina require zero-deductible glass coverage — California does not. If your glass is fully covered here, it's because you bought a full-glass endorsement, not because of a statute.
So what will it cost?
It depends on your policy, and we'll check it before we dispatch rather than after. Two things are usually true: comprehensive coverage pays for glass minus your deductible, and most carriers waive the deductible on chip repair because a repair costs them far less than a replacement.
Your insurer can't pick your shop
Under California Insurance Code § 758.5 your insurer cannot require you to use a specific shop. It cannot recommend one unless you asked for a referral or were told in writing that you may choose. Once you've chosen, it cannot steer you elsewhere, and it cannot cut your reasonable repair cost down to what its own shop would have charged.
No insurance? That's common
Plenty of our work is cash-pay, especially door glass, which often costs less than a comprehensive deductible anyway. Tell us the vehicle and we'll quote you a real number with mobile service included, not a "starting from" figure that changes when we arrive.
Speedy Windshield Repair is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any insurance company. Carrier names appear on this site only to indicate that we bill those insurers directly.

Joseph was great to work with. He was comitted to providing great service since our initial phone call. Next day windshield was replaced in a timely and professional manner. Would definitely do business with them again and recommend to anyone that needs to replace their windshield.
Amazing customer service! Excellent work and yes they are speedy! Got my windshield replaced and was so pleasantly surprised when Michael presented me with a "thank you" gift bag. So rare to see engaged service - this place has it..highly recommend.

What the warranty actually covers
"Lifetime warranty" is meaningless unless somebody writes down what it includes. Here's ours.
Covered, for as long as you own the vehicle
- Water leaks caused by our installation
- Wind noise caused by our installation
- Moulding and trim failures from our fitting
- Workmanship defects of any kind on our install
Not covered — and we'd rather say so up front
- New impact damage — a fresh rock is a fresh job
- Stress cracks spreading from damage that predates our work
- Defects in the glass itself, which carry the manufacturer's warranty
- Damage from a later collision or a break-in
Frequently asked
Yes. Newport Beach, Newport Coast, Corona del Mar and Balboa are all part of the normal Costa Mesa area. On the peninsula and Balboa Island mention the parking when you call — the streets are tight and a replacement needs somewhere the vehicle can sit through the adhesive cure.
Compare the cash price to your deductible first. For a single side window the cash price is often lower, and claiming then means paying the whole thing yourself and carrying a claim for no benefit. If several windows went, or there is interior or body damage, a claim starts to make sense and we bill the major carriers directly.
It does. Position is one of the main things deciding repair versus replacement — damage outside the driver's primary sightline can be resin-repaired without the slight optical distortion mattering. Provided it is not at the very edge and not too large, off-centre damage is usually the easy case.
Yes, and it is a reasonable thing to want on a car you have to hand back. Whether your insurer authorises OEM over quality aftermarket depends on your policy, and we will establish that before you commit rather than after the glass is ordered.
