Auto glass repair in Pasadena and the west San Gabriel Valley
Pasadena is the northern end of the oldest freeway in America — and its 1940 geometry has no shoulders, which means there is nowhere to pull over when a rock hits your glass. We come to you instead.
- Mobile at no extra charge — your driveway, your office lot, your job site
- ADAS camera recalibration on the same visit, not a second appointment
- We bill your carrier direct — GEICO, State Farm, USAA, AAA, Farmers, Progressive
- Workmanship warranted for as long as you own the vehicle
You're all set, there.
We've got your request. A Speedy tech will call you shortly to confirm the glass, your coverage and a time that works.
The 110 is a genuinely unusual hazard
The Arroyo Seco Parkway terminates in Pasadena, and it is the first freeway built in the United States — a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark still operating in essentially its original 1940 form. That is charming and it is also the problem. It was designed for 1940 traffic and now carries over four times that volume, and its crash rate runs at roughly twice that of other freeways, largely attributed to the outdated design.
Specifically: no shoulders. On-ramps that start from a dead stop with almost no acceleration distance. Hairpin exits with next to no braking distance. Lanes narrower than anything built since. For glass, the consequences are direct — constant hard braking and acceleration means constant stone throw, narrow lanes mean less lateral distance from the vehicle ahead, and if something does hit your windshield there is literally nowhere to pull over and look at it.
Meanwhile I-210 runs along the north of the city and SR-134 heads west, both hugging the base of the San Gabriel Mountains.
Foothill geography puts grit on the road
Pasadena backs onto the mountains, and the roads on that northern edge — plus the Arroyo Seco corridor — collect sand, gravel and small rock washed down off the slopes. After rain there is measurably more loose material on those surfaces than on a flat inland grid, and loose material on the road is what ends up in your windshield. There is also a steady volume of contractor, gravel and concrete trucks working the foothill streets.
Two vehicle populations, one city
Pasadena has a genuinely unusual spread, and the right answer depends which end you are at.
Older and vintage vehicles are common in the historic neighbourhoods — Bungalow Heaven, Madison Heights, the streets around the Arroyo. Glass for these can take longer to source, and on genuinely old cars the gaskets and trim are often more of the job than the glass. Tell us the year and model when you call so we can check what is actually available before promising a date.
Newer, camera-equipped vehicles are everywhere else. Pasadena has a high share of them, helped by an engineer-and-scientist household base — JPL alone employs around 5,000 people here and Caltech close to 4,000. Those vehicles need a documented ADAS recalibration after glass replacement, which we do on the same visit and back with a pre- and post-scan report rather than an assurance.
Pasadena driveways are good for calibration — with one exception
Static camera calibration needs level ground and clear space in front of the vehicle for the target board. Pasadena's older residential streets are excellent for that: proper driveways, mature setbacks, room to work. The exception is the hillside streets to the north and west, where driveways can be steeply pitched — and a slope invalidates a static calibration. If yours is on a hill, say so and we will bring a flat alternative into the plan rather than complete a calibration that would not be valid.
One date to keep in mind
On 1 January the city closes about five and a half miles of its main arterial for the Rose Parade, running along Colorado Boulevard and out to Sierra Madre Boulevard. No other city in our service area hands over its principal commercial street to a parade every year. If you need glass done around New Year, book it well before or well after — nothing is reaching your driveway across a closed Colorado Boulevard.
West San Gabriel Valley coverage
South Pasadena, Altadena, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, Monrovia, San Marino and Alhambra are all part of our normal Pasadena area. The foothill communities — Altadena and Sierra Madre in particular — sit closest to the slopes, and vehicles from up there arrive with more edge chips and more general sandblasting of the lower glass than cars from the flats.
Worth knowing about the wider valley too: Irwindale, Azusa, Arcadia and Monrovia form the region's designated aggregate mining district, and loaded aggregate and asphalt trucks feed out of it onto I-210, I-605, SR-39, I-10 and SR-60 every working day. If your commute runs east through the valley, that is very likely where your chips are coming from.
Where we work
Residential driveways across Bungalow Heaven, Madison Heights, San Rafael, Linda Vista and the Playhouse District; office and institutional car parks around Lake Avenue, Old Pasadena and the Colorado corridor; and out through the west San Gabriel Valley. Mobile throughout.
Every piece of glass on the vehicle
One mobile team, one visit. If the camera behind your windshield needs recalibrating afterwards, we do that too rather than sending you somewhere else.
Windshield replacement
Crack past repairing? We fit new glass to the adhesive maker's spec and tell you the real safe drive-away time.
See windshield replacement →Chip & crack repair
Caught it early? A resin repair takes about half an hour and most carriers waive the deductible on repair.
See chip & crack repair →ADAS recalibration
Move the glass and you move the camera that aims lane-keeping and automatic braking. We recalibrate and hand you the scan report.
See ADAS calibration →Back glass & rear windows
Rear glass shatters into pebbles rather than cracking. We vacuum it out of the seats and cabin, and match the defroster grid.
See back glass replacement →Door & side windows
Broken into overnight? Usually cheaper than a comprehensive deductible, so most people just pay cash and never file.

There is no shop to drive to. Tell us where the vehicle is parked and we'll tell you straight whether we can work there.

Tell us what broke
Send the form or call. Your VIN or plate gets us the exact glass for your vehicle, including whether it carries a camera, rain sensor or heating element.
We check your coverage first
Before anyone is dispatched we confirm what your policy covers and what your deductible actually is, so the price you hear is the price you pay. No claim is filed until you say go.
We come to you
Your driveway, your office lot, your job site — at no extra charge. We fit the glass, recalibrate the camera if there is one, and tell you when it's safe to drive.
What California drivers actually pay
Straight answers, because there is a lot of misleading advertising in this industry.
California has no free-glass law
You may have seen ads implying windshields are free by law in California. They aren't. Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina require zero-deductible glass coverage — California does not. If your glass is fully covered here, it's because you bought a full-glass endorsement, not because of a statute.
So what will it cost?
It depends on your policy, and we'll check it before we dispatch rather than after. Two things are usually true: comprehensive coverage pays for glass minus your deductible, and most carriers waive the deductible on chip repair because a repair costs them far less than a replacement.
Your insurer can't pick your shop
Under California Insurance Code § 758.5 your insurer cannot require you to use a specific shop. It cannot recommend one unless you asked for a referral or were told in writing that you may choose. Once you've chosen, it cannot steer you elsewhere, and it cannot cut your reasonable repair cost down to what its own shop would have charged.
No insurance? That's common
Plenty of our work is cash-pay, especially door glass, which often costs less than a comprehensive deductible anyway. Tell us the vehicle and we'll quote you a real number with mobile service included, not a "starting from" figure that changes when we arrive.
Speedy Windshield Repair is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any insurance company. Carrier names appear on this site only to indicate that we bill those insurers directly.

What the warranty actually covers
"Lifetime warranty" is meaningless unless somebody writes down what it includes. Here's ours.
Covered, for as long as you own the vehicle
- Water leaks caused by our installation
- Wind noise caused by our installation
- Moulding and trim failures from our fitting
- Workmanship defects of any kind on our install
Not covered — and we'd rather say so up front
- New impact damage — a fresh rock is a fresh job
- Stress cracks spreading from damage that predates our work
- Defects in the glass itself, which carry the manufacturer's warranty
- Damage from a later collision or a break-in
Frequently asked
Often, but tell us the year, make and model up front so we can check availability before giving you a date. On genuinely old vehicles the gaskets, mouldings and trim clips are frequently harder to source than the glass, and they are what determines whether the finished job seals properly.
For the glass itself, generally not. For a static ADAS camera calibration, yes — that needs level ground and clear space in front of the vehicle, and a pitched driveway will not give a valid result. We will arrange a level location nearby rather than complete a calibration we know would not hold up.
Yes, along with South Pasadena, San Marino, Monrovia and Alhambra. The foothill communities sit nearest the slopes, so we see more grit-related damage and more edge chips on vehicles from Altadena and Sierra Madre than from the flatter parts of the valley.
It varies by manufacturer and by whether your vehicle needs static calibration, dynamic calibration or both — dynamic requires driving the vehicle at a set speed on well-marked road. We identify what yours requires from the VIN before the appointment, so you can plan the visit properly.
